Abstract

The doctrine of the ministry is a hot topic within the Lutheran Church, but Brug offers some insight into the issue. He examines the proper use if the terms “minister” and “ministry.” He answers the question whether the pastoral ministry is divinely instituted as opposed to other forms of public ministry which are human institutions. Among other issues, Brug offers a history of the controversy between the so called Wisconsin and Missouri views of ministry.
