What Do Coptic Christians Believe About Salvation?

Abstract

This Thesis Paper covers the topic of the Coptic Church and its beliefs and teachings on salvation. This study aims to fill a gap in knowledge among Confessional Lutherans about the Coptic Oriental Orthodox Church of Alexandria, specifically focusing on the doctrine of Justification through Faith. My findings are based on four months of research from theological books, scholarly journals, articles, and one in-depth interview. If a scholar or theologian would like a brief overview of what the Coptic Church is and what it teaches on the fundamental doctrine of Justification, then this Paper may be of use. This Paper covers Coptic Church history up to the modern era and recommends sources that are pertinent to Coptic soteriology.
