    Abstract
This oral history, conducted by Michael Borgwardt in 1994, highlights the life and ministry of Arthur Meier, a pivotal figure in WELS Apache missions. Referred to as both teacher and missionary, Meier’s legacy is especially tied to the East Fork Lutheran School on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Arizona. Borgwardt emphasizes the often-overlooked contributions of educators in mission work, noting Meier’s defining influence on the development of East Fork. Through reflections and recollections, Meier offers insights into the challenges and blessings of cross-cultural ministry, particularly during the second half-century of WELS work among the Apache people. His name stands alongside other notable missionaries such as Rosin, Uplegger, Guenther, and Hadler. This interview, recorded shortly after the 100th anniversary of WELS Apache missions, provides valuable historical perspective and encouragement for current and future church workers.
