    Abstract
This paper presents an in-depth examination of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod's (WELS) doctrinal statements on Scripture. It articulates WELS's unwavering stance on the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible, emphasizing that all Scripture is God-breathed and serves as the sole authority on matters of faith and life. The document discusses the church's hermeneutical approach, insisting that Scripture interprets Scripture and rejects modernist reinterpretations that undermine biblical authority. The historical significance of these statements is underscored in light of their role in doctrinal teachings and practices within the synod. The paper reaffirms the synod's commitment to the literal truth of the Bible, counters the challenges posed by liberal theology, and upholds the confessional Lutheran position on Scriptural authority.
