As the world entered the decade of the 1980’s, E. H. Wendland summarized various missiological viewpoints about the state of missions around the globe. He touches upon the receptiveness of foreign countries, the acceptance of pluralism, trends of social activism which tend toward radicalism, contextualization, and the polarizing of differing church groups. He ends on this encouraging note, “These and other questions face us as we enter the 1980s. Our message remains the same. But the world conditions under which we bring this message will never remain static. May God give us the courage and the foresight to carry on aggressively his most important work no matter how much the outward circumstances in this world may change!”
