August Friedrich Ernst (1841–1924) served as president of Northwestern College in Watertown Wisconsin (1870–1919). He also served as the president of the Federation of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Other States (1892–1901). He was one theological leader in the Wisconsin Synod who did not go along with the theological direction of the Wauwatosa Seminary faculty in the doctrine of church and ministry. We offer Pastor David R. Bosclair's translation of Ernst's "Propositions on Synod, Church Discipline, and Synodical Discipline," in the interest of providing a complete historical record.en_US
