    Abstract
This paper deals with 3 modern Mexican "narcoreligions" , some of which have gained millions of followers throughout North America. The modern religions are: 1. Santa Muerte 2. Jesus Malverde 3. Pensamientos, the scripture penned and promoted by one of the founders of La Familia Michoacana cartel. It considers these modern, death-obsessed religions in the light of the religion of the Aztecs (the Mexica people of Tenochtitlan)
