Proclaiming the Gospel in Worship
Abstract
Strey discusses the proclamation of the gospel in our worship and our music. He compares the liturgy and the “praise service,” and discusses the possibility of “lutheranizing” the latter. He examines the use of symbolism in the context of worship. He then discusses critically the content of hymns and praise songs, providing examples of each, as well as the problems or benefits of the musical styles used to accompany them. Finally, he provides several points that we must consider when we attempt to determine in which direction we will take our worship.
