Our Seminary in Watertown: 1863-1870

Abstract

In this essay, Professor Danell takes his readers through the earliest years of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, to its roots in Watertown, as a young synod found itself in desperate need of pastors to fulfill the needs of a growing German populace. While the Seminary faced a difficult first few years, Danell’s work demonstrates the importance that the synod’s earliest leaders placed, not just on the school, but on the continued proclamation of the Gospel by faithful and capable pastors.
