    Abstract
In this comprehensive five-part lecture series, Dr. Siegbert W. Becker examines the resurgence of occult practices in modern society from a biblical and pastoral perspective. He explores divination, magic and witchcraft, spiritism, demonic possession, and Satanism, emphasizing their spiritual dangers and theological implications. Becker distinguishes between fraudulent and genuinely supernatural phenomena, warning that both serve the devil’s purposes. Drawing on Scripture, historical sources, and contemporary examples, he demonstrates how occult practices mimic divine revelation and undermine Christian doctrine, especially the Gospel of grace. He critiques astrology, séances, exorcisms, and charismatic movements, showing how they often promote false theology and spiritual deception. Becker urges pastors to recognize occult influences, counsel wisely, and ground their ministry in the Word of God. He concludes that the best defense against occultism is the proclamation of Christ crucified, who has defeated Satan and offers true hope and assurance through the Gospel.
