    Abstract
The phrase, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,” often can confuse the believer who has known all their life that we are saved “by grace and not by works.” Professor Geiger clarifies the verse by showing how it not only does not contradict God’s free salvation but also vigorously defends and upholds it. He also beautifully explains how the awesome power of God working in us causes us to work with fear and trembling.
