The author of this document is unknown, but he does provide an insight into an aspect of the debate that once took place about the individual cup. The author of this essay seeks to respond to the notion that the common cup is unsanitary by pointing not only to the falsehood behind that notion, but also to the useful, symbolic practice that is lost in the individual cup. While this author perhaps states his case too harshly, his argument is worth listening to for a balanced approach on this issue.en_US
