The Origin and Terminology of the Nicene Creed

Abstract

In this paper, James Cloute uses a variety of sources to trace the formulation of the Nicene Creed. He debunks a theory that the creed is nothing more than a revised version of the Caesarian Creed, and then after examining Arian theology, analyzes specific clauses from the creed that were written to thwart this heresy.
